SkinKit theme FAQ
Answers to common questions about downloads, file locations, CSS switching, color modes, JavaScript, and coding agents.
Quick answers about using and extending the theme files.
Do I need to build or compile anything?
No. A theme is plain HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets. Link the stylesheet and host the files directly.
Where should I extract the ZIP?
Extract it into your website root and merge its css/, js/, and assets/ folders with your own folders.
Do I need a theme attribute on the body?
No. The CSS link determines the visual theme. The optional data-sk-mode attribute on <html> chooses light or dark colors.
Can I switch themes without rewriting the page?
Yes. Keep the shared component class names and replace the CSS link. Theme-specific artwork may need its own classes, but the shared navigation, hero, buttons, cards, forms, and footer remain portable.
Is the theme JavaScript required?
No. The CSS provides the look. Keep the JavaScript only if you want the sample color-mode toggle or its demo interactions.
Why does my site look different from the preview?
Check that you extracted all referenced assets, loaded the right theme stylesheet, and removed conflicting styles from your own CSS. Load the theme CSS after any reset that overrides its component rules.
How do I work with an AI coding agent?
Open the site root in your coding tool and ask it to read the included AGENT.md and README.md before making changes.
Can I use one theme on more than one website?
Free theme downloads can be used directly. For restricted themes, access applies for the lifetime of that theme on the account that redeemed its code; check the theme's current access terms for usage details.
